A fundraiser has been established to help cover the medical expenses of Aurora, Colorado theatre shooting victim Brent Lowak of Bulverde, who was critically injured in the July 20th shooting rampage during the midnight showing of "The Dark Knight Rises." The 2003 Smithson Valley graduate was visiting with his best friend 2006 SVHS graduate Jessica Ghawi, who was among 12 people killed in one of the nation's worst mass shootings.
To help offset astronomical medical expenses, the Brent Lowak Survivor Expense fund has been set up at Wells Fargo Bank by two of his best friends, Meg and Billy Bodin.
"He's going to need financial assisitance getting those medical bills covered," Meg Bodin said Monday afternoon. "Lowak's condition has been upgraded from critical to serious," adding that she talked to him on Friday.
To donate to the Lowak Fund, visit any Wells Fargo branch and deposit funds into the Brent Lowak Survivor Expense Fund, or contributions can be mailed to Brent Lowak, P.O. Box 310176, New Braunfels, Texas 78311.
A PayPal account also has been set up for donations. PayPal users can log in and deposit funds at BrentLowakSurvivorExpenseFund@yahoo.com ,which can also be used to send messages to Brent and the Bodins.
"I would just ask people to be aware that the medical expenses are astronomical," said Meg. "This is the opportunity to do something to honor Jessie's memory and to bless Brent. He's got a long road ahead of him."
