Residents in unincorporated areas of Bexar County can look forward to a nonrestricted fireworks season this New Year.As of right now, a recent survey by the Bexar County Fire Marshall's Office shows vegetation in the county is only mildly dry.
"At this point we don't see anything that really indicates that there is a large danger for running wild land fires or anything like that," said Craig Roberts, Bexar County Fire Marshall. "In fact I was looking at vegetation today and some of it's green, some of it's brown, and some of it's kind of yellowish; if you look across the county we've got varying conditions."
This prediction looks like it could hold true through the new year, with mild showers in the San Antonio area Monday and Tuesday, and a few thunderstorms predicted early next week.
"At this point the only thing I can recommend is that this year be an unregulated, unrestricted fireworks season," said Roberts.
