Hearing Scheduled for AF Recruiter

by Elizabeth Ruiz

Another Article 32 hearing concerning the Air Force sex scandal is scheduled Tuesday at Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland, but this time, the defendant is a recruiter, not a training instructor.

Joint Base spokesman Brent Boller says Tech Sgt. Jaime Rodriguez is accused of sexual misconduct, rape and sodomy, in addition to other charges.

"Tech. Sgt. Rodriguez was immediately removed from recruiting duties when the allegations were identified," said Boller.

He was assigned to the Lake Jackson recruiting office, which is in the Houston area.

"The charges and specifications include allegations of unprofessional relationships with Air Force applicants and a recruiter assistant, false official statement, obstruction of justice, adultery, indecent conduct, aggravated sexual assault, forcible sodomy and rape," said Boller.

He says there are 18 alleged female victims in this case.

The Article 32 hearing, which is the equivalent of a civilian grand jury, is scheduled to begin at 8 a.m. Tuesday. Boller says the evidence presented at the hearing will be used to determine whether the allegations against Rodriguez will go to a court martial.
