NS Man Kills Car Burglary Suspect

by Elizabeth Ruiz and Johnny Shannon

A car burglary suspect is dead and another is seriously wounded after being shot by a man who reportedly caught them breaking into his SUV.

Twenty-five-year-old Roger Pemberton told police he heard noises coming from his vehicle, which was parked in front of a home on Lightstone Drive in the Stone Oak area.

"He saw one of the suspects inside his vehicle," said officer Matt Porter.

Pemberton reportedly confronted the suspect and saw something in his hand.

"At that point, there were some shots fired," said Porter.

There was another suspect who got into a getaway vehicle.

"He was also struck by the gunfire.  He made it a short distance down the street where he crashed into another vehicle and he died of his injuries," Porter told 550 KTSA News.

The other wounded suspect was taken to a hospital where he's expected to be charged with burglary by proxy.

No charges are expected to be filed against Pemberton.
