AG Ads Recruit New Yorkers

by Elizabeth Ruiz

There could be a lot of unhappy New York gun owners moving to the Lone Star State, if the Texas Attorney General has his way.

Greg Abbott is running a pop up ad campaign inviting New Yorkers who are upset about the tough gun control restrictions signed into law this week.

One of the ads says ,"Wanted: Law abiding gun owners looking for lower taxes and greater opportunity, come to Texas."

"We're going straight in the face of New York officials who are trying to limit their constitutional rights," Abbott said on the Sean Rima show on 550 KTSA.

"We want to let them know that there's a difference and that difference is Texas where taxes are low, government is small and we don't intrude into your individual liberties," said Abbott.

The other  pop up ad is a more direct attack on New York Governor Andrew Cuomo.

"It says,'Is Governor Cuomo looking to take your guns? Sick of the media tryng to out law-abiding gun owners?  Are you a lawful gun owner seeking lower taxes?  Then come to Texas,'" said Abbott.

The ads paid for with Abbott's campaign funds link to a Facebook site that proclaims,"Keep your guns, move to Texas.
