As the unofficial kickoff for the San Antonio Stock Show and Rodeo, the world's largest free breakfast got underway in the parking lot of Cowboy's Dance Hall near IH-35 and Northeast loop 410 early Friday morning.
By 4:30 over 300 volunteers had begun serving 50,000 people biscuits and gravy, sausage, and tacos, along with thousands of cups of coffee.

Along with continuous live music, the 7:00 O'clock cow chip contest included contestants such as County Commissioner Tommy Adkisson and District Attorney Susan Reed.
