Right to Life Rally Set

By Bill O'Neil

Abortion opponents are onece again set to make their case at the Texas State Capitol--with this year's rally set to take place days after the 40th anniversary of the Roe v. Wade U.S. Supreme Court ruling.

While a lot has been made of recent polling numbers--which find Americans largely don't want to see the ruling overturned--Justice Foundation President Allen Parker told 550 KTSA News you really have to look deeper.
"Depending on how you phrase the questrion--people might think abortion should be rare--and used in certain hard cases" Parker said, adding "The controversy will not go away--becasue it is an injustice--like slavery."

But abortion rights advocates are sticking to their arguments too. Marking the anniversary of the landmark ruling, Planned Prenthood Gulf Coast's Melanie Linton said the issue has moved beyond simple tags.

"Pro Choice and Pro Life don't reflect the complexity of the issue of abortion" Linton said--addign that restrictions do more hamr then good.

"THey put women's lives and women's health at risk."

Saturday's rally is scheduled to get underway at 3 PM--and both Governor Rick Perry and Texas Attorney General Greg Abbott are expected to be there.
