Instructor Guilty, Not Guilty

by Elizabeth Ruiz

After deliberating for about an hour-and-a-half Wednesday afternoon, a military panel at Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland, found Staff Sgt. Donald Davis not guilty of the most serious sex charges against him.

"A military jury found that Staff Sgt. Davis was not guilty of one specification of abusive sexual contact, as well as one specification of assault consummated by battery against a trainee," said Joint Base spokesman Brent Boller.

But it's not over for Davis.

"Earlier in the proceedings, Davis pleaded guilty to engaging in an unprofessional personal and sexual relationship with a technical training student," Boller told 550 KTSA News.

A sentencing hearing on that plea was scheduled to begin at 8 a.m. Thursday.

Thirty-two  training instructors have been under investigation at Lackland, with six being convicted of misconduct.    Boller says there are more than 40 alleged victims.
