A chase in Wilson county just south of San Antonio has ended in death.

Bexar County Sheriff's deputies were chasing the driver of an SUV for a traffic violation shortly after 2 a.m. Wednesday when the vehicle crashed and plunged into  a stock pond just east of Poth.

Authorities say the SUV was carrying several undocumented immigrants believed to be from Guatemala  and many ran from the scene, but  were captured nearby.  Some were rescued from the pond, but three people apparently drowned. 

The Texas Department of Public Safety's dive team also responded.

The investigation continues
