by Elizabeth RuizSecurity is being stepped up around a Northeast Side School after a man posing as an undercover officer tried to lure a 12-year-old girl into his truck.
Northeast School District spokeswoman Aubrey Chancellor says it happened Monday afternoon near Eisenhower Middle School.
"On the way home from school, the man approached the girl and asked her for directions to the school," said Chancellor.
The girl pointed toward the campus, but that wasn't good enough.
"The man asked her to get inside his truck so that she could lead the way," Chancellor told 550 KTSA News.
That's when the girl ran home and told her parents about the fake cop, described as a white man with dark hair and a dark beard. He was in a black pickup, possibly a Ford F-150.
Letters were sent home Tuesday and Chancellor hopes parents will talk to their children about "stranger danger."
