An opprotunity to build bridges--along with a spirit of working together--that's just what San Antonio Republican Congressman Lamar Smith said he'll be listening for in Tuesday Night's State of the Union Address. In fact, the Congressman told 550 KTSA News all of the makings of a real leadership moment are in place.
"The President has an opportunity here to come before the American people--and let us
know which way he wants to take the country" Smith said, adding the tone the President sets with his address could speak volumes about what happens in the weeks ahead.
"I hope the President will take this opportunity to reach out to Republicans and tell us how we can get together. I hope at the same time, he will consider some of the Republican initiatives. There is something Smith said he doesn't want to hear.
"I hope it won't be here is my liberal agenda--and I want everybody to support it--and I want the Republicans to vote for it."
