Reward UOffered in Copper Theft

By Bill O'Neil

A one-thousand dollar reward is being offered for information that leads to the arrest of two men caught on tape--stealing hundreds of pounds of copper from a SAWS facility in the 7400 block of I-10.

"It's a problem that doesn't happen frequently--but happens often enough that it affects our costs of operating" said Anne Hayden with SAWS> She tells 550 KTSA News that kind of theft can take an even bigger toll.
"Just as much as anything else, they frequently cause more in damage in costs--than they do in the actual cost of replacing thee wiring" Hayden said, adding "some of the equipment that we have is very specialized--and to b e able to replace it is pretty expensive."

Anyone with information on the theft is urged to call Crimestoppers at 224-7867.
