The Feds are breathing down their necks, and now Scooter Store officials are being pressured by the city of New Braunfels to pay back more than a million dollars.

In 2009, the Scooter Store received $3.4 million dollars worth of incentives from the city  to create hundreds of  new jobs

"Originally, the Scooter Store had more than 1,200 employees.  Our agreement called for the Scooter Store to create 500 additional jobs within an 18-month period," said New Braunfels city manager Mike Morrison.

He says the company added 400 jobs, but then came the layoffs and now the city wants $1.3 million dollars back.
 
"Our interest is to protect the financial interest of this city and the industrial development corporation, but also to do whatever we can to ensure that those folks employed by the Scooter Store are able to maintain their employment," said Morrison.

They're not asking for the entire $3.4 million dollars to be paid back because the company did create some jobs and invested in electrical infrastructure.

"We've been working with them for the last nine months and attempting to work out pretty much a restructuring of the contract," said Morrison.

Company representiatives were scheduled to go before the New Braunfels Industrial Development Corporation Board Thursday evening, but the Scooter Store cancelled the presentation after federal and state agents raided the place Wednesday.

Investigators returned to the facility for a second day in a row on Thursday.
