Winds Knock out Power

by Elizabeth Ruiz

Strong, gusty winds leave thousands of CPS Energy customers without power. Spokeswoman Christine Patmon says about 20,000 area residents were without electricity around 1 pm Monday.

"We have lines down and utility poles down because of the wind and that's what's causing the power outages," said Patmon.

She told 550 KTSA News that The Shops at La Cantera lost power, but electricity has been restored.

"Our CPS Energy crews are working to restore power as quickly as possible," said Patmon.

Winds out of the west were gusting to 53  miles per hour in San Antonio at 1 o'clock.

San Antonio Firefighters were responding to downtowned power lines and utility polls, as well as vicinity alarms going off.

The National Weather Service has issued a Red Flag Warning for all of South Central Texas until 7 pm Monday.
