By Johnny Shannon and Bill O'NeilA program to provide military voters and their families the resources they need to register to vote--and take part in this year's elections in Texas. That's just what Texas Secretary of State John Steen unveiled during a stop at Joint Base San Antonio Fort Sam Houston.
It's called the Boots and Ballots Military Voter Readiness and Resources Effort.
"We're going to go around to all of the major military bases in Texas to make sure that all of the troops are registered to vote and scondly that they actually cast their ballot" Steen said Monday Morning, adding too many servicemembers face difficulties in casting their ballots.
"It sometimes can be a challenge to get the ballot and then for it to be counted it has to get sent back in within a period of time....we want to make sure they (servicemembers) understand the procedures" Steen said.
May 11th and November 5th are the two uniform election days in Texas this year.
