By KTSA News StaffMother Nature has left a mark on San Antonio--with high winds tearing down power lines, sparking a number of grass fires across the area.
At least one of those fires is blamed for the destruction of five homes in the 8000 block of Old Pearsall Road in the southern portion of Bexar County. Officials there say an 83 year old woman also was taken to a hospital for medical treatment after being injured.
To the west--a nearby grassfire forced firefighters to order a number of homes evacuated along Peaceful Lane, near Pleasonton Road.
An earlier grass fire along Highway 90 near Cupples snarled traffic for a time.
CPS Energy recorded more than 30-thousand customers without power at the height of the outages, with firefighters responding to dozens of downed power lines. A number of schools and businesses were affected by the outages--including the Shops at La Cantera, and the Quarry.
