Even the fish didn't escape the wrath of Monday's damaging winds.
Even the fish didn't escape the wrath of Monday's damaging winds.
The larger-than-life fiberglass fish that hang from the IH 35 overpass over the San Antonio River Walk's Museum Reach were damaged by the windstorm. They hang on cables, so they took a beating."We lost a few fins and I believe there was an entire fish that came down," said Mindy Wallen with the San Antonio River Foundation.
She told 550 KTSA News the damage is a safety concern for pedestrians in the area. The West Bank is open, but the East Bank remains closed between Camden and Roy Smith.
"We're going to assess the damage and make the necessary repairs," said Wallen.
Meanwhile, State Farm Insurance told 550 KTSA News they've received hundreds of wind-related damage claims in the San Antonio area..
"That includes roof damage, broken windows and trees falling on cars," said Patti Kelly with State Farm Insurance.
She also has a warning for people who are looking to hire people to repair wind-damaged property.
"One thing that we see after these storms as people try to make repairs is fraudulent contractors and roofers coming into these neighborhoods," said Kelly.
She recommends double-checking any contractor with your insurance company and check references on the Better Business Bureau website.
