Is your teen headed out of town for some R&R over spring break? A magazine aimed at young women ranks South Padre Island as it's second "trashiest" spring break destination..
"The drinking laws on South Padre Island are extremely lax--which is a great thing for the audience that we're talking to" Swain said, adding "From what I've seen it's the only public beach you can bring kegs on to which I've never even heard of before--it's pretty amazing."
"When college kids go off on spring break--they're actually kind of looking for that" he added.
None of it sits well with South Padre Island Mayor Bob Pinkerton.
"I think it's an insult to Texas spring breakers--and to Texas citizens" Pinkerton told
"If they're talking about spring breakers coming down and having a good time and partying--I would think they do that everywhere during spring break" Pinkerton said, adding the scene on the ground isn't wild and out of control.
"I'd say most of them (spring breakers)--90-percent--probably do very good--and just have a good time."
