St. Patrick's Day Fun

The San Antonio River downtown will be dyed a brighter shade of green this weekend as it's renamed the River Shannon for St. Patrick's Day.

The Harp and Shamrock Society of Texas will celebrate with Irish music, dance, food and beverage booths  from 5 pm to 11 pm Saturday at the Beethoven Maennerchor Halle and Garden on Pereida Street.

Admission is $3 and that includes a Kids' Corner.

The Irish Festival kicks off at noon  and continues until 6 pm Saturday and Sunday at the Arneson River Theatre.  Admission is free.
  
A wreath-laying ceremony at noon Sunday at the Alamo will honor those of Irish descent who died in the battle of the Alamo. 
 
The St. Patrick's Day River Parade will wind its way along the river starting at 3 pm Sunday.
