by Elizabeth RuizStudents and staff at San Antonio College are being a little more cautious today after an assault occured near the campus.
A crime alert was issued Monday morning after a woman was assaulted and groped by a man at San Pedro Springs Park near the campus around 9 a.m.
"Soon thereafter, a female student at San Antonio College reported that a suspicious male was following her," said Alamo Colleges spokesman Mario Muniz.He followed her into the Chance Academic Center, but he vanished when she went into a classroom and told a professor.
"According to the Alamo Colleges Police Department, the man she described matched the description of the suspect in the San Pedro Springs Park incident," Muniz told 550 KTSA News.
The suspect is a thin, Hispanic male with a teardrop tattoo under his left eye. He was wearing a black shirt and blue jeans.
The alert was issed to students and employees at all Alamo Colleges. "We're urging them to immediately report any suspicious persons to Alamo College police, to use the buddy system when walking around the campus and to request a safety escort by calling Alamo College Police at 485-0099," said Muniz.
