The San Antonio Fire Department is now battling blazes with brand new trucks.
A new 80,000 pound platform truck-- said to have cost around $995,000--has already proven itself to be invaluable to the department.
Fire Chief Charles Hood tells 550 KTSA News it will provide better protection for firefighters who will now have more ability to move around in the basket and deliver about 2,000 gallons of water.
"It's always exciting when you can talk about new pieces of apparatus and equipment that'll protect the citizens of San Antonio", Hood said.
Two new brush trucks will help give firefighters an upper hand as the threat of wildfires continue to increase.
