He's a freelance photographer, but some of his undercover work has landed him behind bars.
Fifty-two-year-old Kevin Esparza is accused of secretly videotaping a female houseguest in the shower of his North Side home on Sharon Drive.
Bexar County District Attorney Susan Reed would not comment on Esparza's case, but when asked if it is illegal for a person to set up a hidden camera in their own residence, she said it's a crime to photograph or shoot video of someone without their consent in places where privacy is expected.
"If you film someone in a restroom or a dressing room without their consent, that is illegal," said Reed.
She says the improper photography law goes further,.
"It also suggests that you can't film someone without their consent if you are doing it for the purpose of sexual gratification," said Reed.
She cited the example of someone taking a picture or videotaping up a woman's skirt on an escalator.
San Antonio police executed a warrant at Esparza's home and arrested him Tuesday night. The investigation continues.
