Concern continues to grow in Washington--where at least two letters beleived tainted with a deadly poison have been intercepted.
Officials said one of those letters was addressed to President Barack Obama--the other to Mississippi Senator Roger Wicker.
"This can not and should not occur in the United States of America" said San Antonio Congressman Lamar Smith. He told 550 KTSA News it shows just why there is a need for offsite screening of all mail to federal lawmakers.
"I think we can all be very grateful that these checks have been on-going for the last ten years" the Congressman said, adding "Frankly, I was wondering it it was neccessary now--but I'm a true believer that all of our mail does need to be checked" Smith said.
That procedure was put in place in the aftermath of the anthrax mailings--which followed closely on the heels of the September 11th Attacks.
