TX Loses Jobs in March

By Bill O'Neil

No change in the state's unemployment rate for the month of March--which remained at 6.4%--but there were some negative signs to go with the latest round of numbers.

"After strong growth in February, total employment fell by 4,100 jobs in March" said Texas Workforce Commission Chairman Andres Alcantar. He called it a very rare occurrence.
"This is only the third time since January of 2010 that Texas has seen a decline in total employment over a month" Alcantar said.

In San Antonio, the unemployment rate fell from 6.1 to 6%.
