Cornyn, Obama to West Memorial

By Bill O'Neil & Johnny Shannon

Senator John Cornyn said he's glad President Barack Obama will play the role of "Consoler in Chief" for the people of West in the aftermath of the explosion that has devastated their community.
"I'm confident the road to recovery will be long--but I was very encouraged by the examples of resilience--and really the close knit community there of 2,800 people" the Senator said in looking back at his visit to West last week.
As for the investigation in to what went wrong, the Senator said there are a lot of questions to be asked.
"There are local requriements and there are state requirements that have to be complied with as well" Cornyn said, adding "The federal government is going to be doing it's own review and making sure we learn from this and do everything we can to stop it from happening again."
