Bexar Deputy Wounded

By Bill O'Neil

A Bexar County Sheriff's Deputy is expected to recover after what's being described as an accidental shooting on the northside.

We're told it happened in the 26-hundred block of Grayson Way--where the deputy was with his wife--who is a realtor--and another person--at a scheduled showing of a home for sale.
"There was no answer, so the realtor--using information she had as a realtor--gained access in to the house" said Paul Berry with the Bexar County Sheriff's Department. That;'s when the homeowner--who had appartently been in the shower--was startled to find three people inside.

"She grabbed a ahndgun and fired one shot--hitting our off-duty deputy" Berry said.

The Deputy--described as a twenty-year veteran of the department--was rushed to University Hospital. We're told he was not in uniform--nor wearing anything at the time of the shooting that might have identified him as a deputy or any sort of law enforcement officer.
