State Senator and President Pro Tem Leticia Van de Putte of San Antonio will be sworn in as Texas Governor for a day Saturday at the State Capitol in Austin.

"Basically, it's a San Antonio celebration.  I am honored that family and friends and people from San Antonio and across the state are going to join us at the Capitol," Van de Putte told 550 KTSA News.

The swearing-in ceremony is scheduled at 10 a.m. Saturday followed by a Fiesta-style barbecue on the capitol grounds at 11:15.

Van de Putte will participate in  wreath-laying ceremonies at the Texas Peace Officers Monument, Disabled Veterans Monument, Tejano Monument and the Heroes of the Alamo Monument before heading to a reception from 1 to 3 pm.

"We'll have people from San Antonio participating, including the Military Ambassadors, El Rey Feo, the charros and the Pow Wow First Nations, so it's all the beautiful cultures of San Antonio coming together to celebrate," said Van de Putte.

As President Pro Tem of the State Senate, Van de Putte officially serves as acting Governor in the absence of both Governor Rick Perry and Lt. Governor David Dewhurst.
