Investigators Probe Fatal Fire

by Elizabeth Ruiz

The investigation continues into the cause of a West Side house fire that left a 9-year-old boy dead.

The blaze erupted around 6 a.m. Sunday  in the 400 block of Beverly Dr.

"It was a single story residence and the fire started in the garage, but there was heavy smoke and fire damage extending to the main body of the house," said assistant fire chief Oscar Gonzalez.

The body of a boy was pulled from the blaze.

"There were some family members outside and they  conveyed to us that someone was inside," Gonzalez told 550 KTSA News.

Nine-year-old Ryan Rios was rushed to University Hospital where he was pronounced dead shortly after arrival.

" Our arson division was there for a good part of the day and they're analyzing the information they gathered," Gonzalez said.
