Drivers in the Northwest Side should be aware that crews contracted by the Texas Department of Transportation will shut down main lane traffic on Loop 1604 at Vance Jackson every night through Thursday.
The Austin Bridge Company will install support beams across the main lanes of Loop 1604 to form a bridge connecting Vance Jackson to The Rim shopping center.
TxDOT spokesman Josh Donat says crews will start shutting down the main lanes of westbound Loop 1604 at 9 pm Monday and Tuesday, with full closure from 11 pm to 5 a.m.
"You'll actually have to take the Lockhill-Selma exit and follow the frontage road all the way through IH 10 and re-enter right before you get to Babcock Road," said Donat.
Wednesday and Thursday nights, the eastbound lanes will be shut down, pushing traffic onto the frontage road at the Frontage Road exit east of IH10. Traffic will re-enter Loop 1604 after passing through IH 10 at Lockhill-Selma.
The $3.4 million project is a collaboration between state and local agencies and it's being paid for by state Proposition 12 funds.
