Texas Term Limits Vote Nears

By Elizabeth Ruiz

The Texas House this week will take a final vote on a proposed amendment to the state constitution
that would impose term limits on the governor and other executive office holders.

George Seay, founder of Texans for Term Limits, says it doesn't apply to all state offices.
"I would call it a first step because it applies to executive branch statewide elected officials only.
It doesn't apply to the legislature and it doesn't apply to the judiciary," Seay told 550 KTSA News.

He says the governor and other officials in statewide executive positions would be limited to two terms,
for a total of eight years.
"If the bill gets 2/3 approval in the Texas House Wednesday, it will be on the November ballot,"
said Seay.
He says the measure has the support of State Representative Lyle Larson, a Republican
from San Antonio.
