Lightning is suspected in a North Side house fire.
The blaze erupted shortly before 1 pm Friday at a two-story home on Rogers Wood near Inwood Manor.
"Firefighters found heavy fire and smoke coming from the home. It's a rather large house, a little over 3,000 square feet, and it took firefighters a while to get the upper hand," said San Antonio Fire Department spokesman Christian Bove.
It was a stubborn blaze.
"The incident commander went back and forth between an offensive attack, which means that firefighters were inside trying to extinguish the fire with hoses. They alternated between that and a defensive attack, which means we pull our firefighters out and battle the flames from the outside using a large ladder truck," said Bove.
He told 550 KTSA News that no one was injured, but firefighters remained on the scene for quite a while as the cleanup and the investigation continued.
