Texas takes one big step closer to creating a new fund for financing water projects in the years ahead.
"This is a story for Texas families. This is a story for Texas businesses" the Governor said just before putting pen to paper, adding "We're securing the future of our great state by making sure Texas has the water it needs for decades to come."
Voters still must give final approval to the creation of the fund--which will receive $2 billion upon that final thumbs up. Texas House Speaker Joe Straus dfrom San Antonio said the fund is a vital part of the state's today--and tomorrow as well.
"We know a reliable supply of water will help us remains the leading state in the nation for job creation" Straus said.
