A Bexar County inmate faces more charges--after authorities say he stabbed a detention officer at the jail early Friday Morning.
We're told it happened inside of a segregation unit--where the 9 1/2 year veteran officer was with inmate Juan Vigil--who had been booked din to the jail May 12th on robbery and assaulting a public servant charges.
"During the altercation, the inmate used a sharp object of some kind--and stabbed the Detention Officer in the leg" said Paul Berry with the Bexar County Sheriff's Department. He told 550 KTSA News botht he guard and Vigil ended up getting medical treatment.
"The inmate suffered some injuries during the confrontation--he was also take to University Hospital" Berry said. Both he and the Officer are expected to be ok.
Berry said Vigil has a record of such behavior at the facility--with eight fights since his arrival less than three weeks ago.
