A San Antonio Police Officer is expected to be ok after an acciedent involving a suspected drunk driver--while a woman is dead while trying to help out at another accident in the downtown area.
We're told the officer had his patrol car stopped at around Midnight on the northwest side--along Bandera near Westchase--when a vehicle drifted from the center lane--striking the officers patrol car and pushing it in to him.
"The officer was transported to a local hospital--as was the driver of the vehicle that ran in to the back of the police cruiser" said Sandy Gutierrez with the San Antonio Police Department. She told 550 KTSA News tthat driver could face a possible DWI charge.
Meanwhile about four hours later--a woman driving along I 35 North in the downtown area stopped her vehicle in the area of another accident--and hopped out to help direct traffic around it near I 10.
"(That's) when a vehilce came around the corner and did not see that person standing in the roadway... and hit that person. That person was pronounced dead at the scene" Gutierrez said.
