Nuns on the Bus Tour Stops in S.A.

by Elizabeth Ruiz

The Nuns on the Bus tour stopped in San Antonio, before heading to Laredo Sunday evening and El Paso on Monday.

NETWORK board member Patricia Mejia says Nuns on the Bus departed Washington, D.C. on Memorial Day with 40 cities across the country on the agenda and the trek ends in mid-June in San Francisco.

"The purpose of the tour is to bring attention to the need for comprehensive immigration reform," Mejia told 550 KTSA News.

Sunday afternoon, Nuns on the Bus pulled into St. Leonard Parish on South Zarzamora and held a rally calling for "common sense" immigration reform.

"To make sure that families are united and to make sure that young dreamers who have been here and who are contributing to this country have the right and the path to citizenship," said Mejia.

So-called dreamers are young adults who were brought by their parents to this country when they were minors.
