Congressman Presses Administration on Missing American

By Bill O’Neil

A South Texas Congressman is urging the Obama Administration to take a more hands-on approach to the search for an American believed to have been kidnapped by drug cartel members in Mexico.
“It’s a difficult time that we’ve gone through these last six years with the drug cartels” said Congressman Ruben Hinojosa—as the search continues for 25-year old Iraq War Veteran Armando Torres, Torres’ father, and his uncle—all of whom were last seen in a confrontation with armed men on the father’s ranch on the Mexican side of the border.
Hinojosa said U.S. officials are doing all they can to find the Marine Corps Veteran.
“We’re turning every stone that we see that we think might give us a clue as to where they are” Hinojosa said, adding “They’re trying very hard. They’re working very closely with some friends we have on the Mexican side (of the border)… equivalent to the FBI and CIA.”
Still, Hinojosa has joined with a number of Capitol Hill colleagues in sending a letter to Secretary of State John Kerry—urging him to take a more active role.
“He could probably go to his counterpart in Mexico and ask if the new President can give orders from the top down that would go beyond the help that we’ve been given up to this time” Hinojosa told 550 KTSA News.
