Via Metropolitan Transit's Board of Trustees has selected the agency's new President and Chief Executive Officer.
The board has removed the title 'Interim' from Jeffrey Arndt's title, making him the agency's permanent President/CEO.
"He demonstrated the kind of leadership that the board was looking for," said Charles Gonzalez, Chief of Public Engagement at Via.
Arndt has served as Interim President since last November, when former President Keith Parker left to run the agency's transit operation in Atlanta, Georgia. He came to San Antonio from Houston where he worked for 25 years at the Metropolitan Transit Authority in Harris County, and spent five years as a research scientist and research specialist at the Texas Transportation Institute.
In a press release, Via Board Chairman Henry R. Munoz, III said Arndt has demonstrated an ability to lead their multimodal system in his time as interim president, and has "demonstrated a commitment to our community and our local values."
"Jeff is going to continue in that vain, I can guarantee you, because he has tremendous support here at VIA," said Gonzalez.
