Don't Let Your Guard Down

By Elizabeth Ruiz

We've seen a quiet hurricane season so far--but the experts warn we're headed in to what's usually the most active portion of any season.

"The Texas Department of Public Safety is reminding residents to make sure that their emergency plans are ready--and that they stay prepared for any potential storm" said Summer Blackwell with DPS. She told 550 KTSA News tropical storms and hurricanes can cause damage along the coast--as well as hundreds of miles inland.

"While the most powerful storms can have wind speeds of upwards of 155 miles per hour, hurricanes can also spawn tornadoes, stor, surge, and the flooding ciased by a hurricane can be catastrophic" Blackwell said.
