Reed to Appeal Photography Ruling

By Bill O'Neil

She will appeal--so said Bexar County District Attorney Susan Reed--after an appeals court tosses out the Texas Improper Photography Statute.

The Fourth Court of Appeals found the law unconstitutional in the review of a case stemming from the arrest of a 50-year old man at Sea World in 2011--where investigators discovered dozeens of pictures of children on his camera--focusing on their private areas.

"We have had numerous cases (of this type) Reed told 550 KTSA News, adding "We've had people walking around various shopping areas fimliming young women, young children."

"I think it's important we have a state law that protects our children" Reed said.

Many experts say such photogrpahy can often be a stepping stone to more aggressive behavior.
