ERCOT Ready for Cooler Temps

By Elizabeth Ruiz

Fall may seem so far away with the mercury still hovering near the century mark every afternoon in San Antonio--but the Electric Reliability Council of Texas aid it's ready for what the change in seasons will bring.

Out with it's new seasonal forecast, ERCOT said it expects to be able to meet consumer demand for energy during botht he fall and winter--with the continuing drought not likely to be much of a factor.

"Based on current information from generation owners and our assessment of adequacy of water in t e various river basins--we do not see an impact to unit operations during the upcoming fall or winter seasons" said ERCOT System Planning Director Warren Lasher.

Lasher said peak demand this summer has remained below historic highs. ERCOT meterologists predict the hot weather will continue through the early fall--with cooler than normal temperatures expected to arrive in November.
