Some record setting numbers are in sight for Port San Antonio's East Kelly Railport--which expects to have seen nearly double the number of rail cars when this fiscal year comes to an end September 30th.
"When we've seen this type of cargo growth it bodes very well--not just for us here at Port San Antonio--but it means the surrounding area economy is also growing at a good pace" said the Port's Paco Felici, who tells 550 KTSA News the energy sector has been a big part of that growth.
"We're also seeing robust growth in the commercial sector when it comes to the retail industry. Also, the construction industry is supported by this type of logistics activity" Felici said.
Overall--the Port expects to serve some ten-thousand rail cars when the final numbers for the year are in.
