Cornyn to Officially File Ft Hood Bill

By Bill O'Neil

Efforts to officially change the classification of the Fort Hood shooting rampage from workplace violence to an act of terror are set to take another step forward--with Senator John Cornyn to officially file his bill Thursday. The Senator said the motivation is very simple.

"To recognize the terror attack at Fort Hood by Major Nidal Hassan for what it was" Cornyn said, adding "There is nothing remotely political about this issue--it is simply about honoring the victims, and providing the deserved assistance to them and their loved ones."

While backers have been frustrated with what they see as an inflexible position of political correctness taken by the White House, the Senator said he sees plenty of support on Capitol Hill.

"I've been pleased this bill has gained broad support--and I do beleive we'll be able to move this bill in the Senate and the House expeditiously" Cornyn said.

The measure is sponsored on the House side by Texas Congressmen John Carter and Roger Williams.
