Time for you to hold up your end of the bargain--the message from Texas Agriculture Commissioner Todd Staples to the federal government--in a letter addressed to President Barack Obama.
In his letter to the President, Staples aid the case for more federal help is very clear--given a recent report showing the flow of illegal immigrants through South Texas is now greater than through Arizona.
"Texas has barely over six Border Agents per border mile. New Mexico, Arizona, and California have over fourteen" Staples told 550 KTSA News, adding "We've got some dedicated local law enforcement--and I appreciate the job that the Border Patrol that we have are doing--but we need our federal government to be serious about securing our border."
The Commissioner--who is also a Republican Candidate for Lieutenant Governor--said such assistance needs to come in the form of more Border Patrol Agents on the ground--as well as more hardware and technology.
"We can not sit idly by and allow drug cartels to chase people off of our property. Our federal government can do more--they just need to make it a priority" Staples said.
