Power Plant Offline for "Weeks"

By Bill O'Neil

The Deely One Power Plant in Southweast Bexar County will likely remain offline for weeks int he aftermath's of Tuesday's explosion involving a silo and a building used to move coal in to the facility.

"We are going to do an intense investigation to determine what the root cause of this incident was" said John Moreno with CPS Eenrgy.

While he couln't put an exact timetable on when the plant may be up and running again, Moreno told 550 KTSA News there's not great concern over the potential for energy shortages at this point, thanks to the expected cooler temperatures that come with the arrival of fall.

"That in itself means that customers are using less electiricy--so, fro us having this power plant offline, it should not be an issue to keep the lights on for customers" Moreno said.
