Joint Base S.A. Braces for Shutdown

by Elizabeth Ruiz

Local military officials  have received their marching orders from the Pentagon to start preparing for a possible government shut down next week.

"We're hoping for the best, but preparing for the worst," said Joint Base San Antonio spokesman Brent Boller.

He told 550 KTSA News officials at local military installations are reviewing the plans as they try to decide which civilians would report for work and who would stay home.

"While military personnel would continue on normal duty status, they'd report to work, but a number of civilian workers would be temporarily furloughed," said Boller.

The government shutdown would start October 1, unless Congress reaches an agreement on a spending bill.
