The man who played Lieutenant Dan will be in San Antonio Friday--hoping to raise some cash to build a home for a wounded warrior in need.
Actor Gary Sinise and his Lieutenant Dan Band have been doing this type of thing all over the country--something he said is owed to those who are making sacrifices for us every day.
"They're not on the front pages anymore--but we still have men and women who are getting hurt and getting killed over in Afghanistan--and we can't forget the residual effects of these dozen years of war, and the men and women who are still serving in harm's way" Sinise told 550 KTSA News, adding his family's history of military service led him to the realization he needed to do something more.
"After September 11th, I felt I needed to play a role in trying to make sure our men and women serving in Afghanistan and Iraq are appreciated" Sinise said.
Friday Night's benefit concert will be held for Marine Staff Sergeant Travis Green, and Sinise is very familiar with his story.
"He was injured in Afghanistan and has a beautiful family--we want to help him out" Sinise said.
The concert os set for Friday Night at the LIla Cockrell Theater--you can get more information--or purchse tickets at www.garysinise.org.
