A poll released by State Senator Donna Campbell shows if the Republican Primary were held today, 48 percent would vote for her, while 10 percent would support San Antonio City Councilwoman Elisa Chan and 7 percent would vote for ex-Bexar County Commissioner Mike Novak.
"The polls at this stage are absolutely worthless. They mean nothing," said Novak.
Allen Blakemore, Campbell's senior strategist says the poll shows Campbell is well-positioned for victory in the Republican Primary with a 38-point lead against her nearest opponent and that her conservatism reflects the mood of GOP voters in her district.
"Dr. Campbell had a successful session and earned a reputation as a conservative champion," said Blakemore.
Novak told 550 KTSA News the release of the poll shows she may be struggling to fill her campaign war chest.
"Senator Campbell must be having a very difficult time right now, raising funds for her re-election campaign," said Novak.
