The start of early voting brings another big name push behind Proposition 6--and efforts to bring more water to Texas.
House Speaker Joe Straus is lined up fully behind the plan to tap in to the Rainy Day Fund for $2 billion--and told 550 KTSA News he's confident the measure will pass.
"It's gonna pass because we're working and getting the word out. Across the partisan divide, people are united on this" Straus said. adding " Failure is not an option... I think this responsible approach will be supported by the voters."
Simply put, Straus said he sees no other way forward.
"We've been through several years of drought in this state, it's been devastating the the economy. From agriculture to industry, those of us in San Antonio know all too well how important the water supply is for a growing population" Straus said.
