Local activists are renewing their push for Congress to take up--and pass an immigration reform plan. The effort includes a newly written letter to President Barack Obama--demanding he take action.
"We've sent a letter to the President to immediately stop the systematic deportation of undocumented people in this country" said Jaime Martinez at the Cesar E. Chavez Service Center. He told 550 KTSA News the current system is doing nothing more than tearing families apart.
While the group is making it's case for action, Martinez said he really holds out little hope a reform package will be passed on Capitol Hill anytime soon--given the scandals that continue to swirl around the Obama Administration.
"Obamacare, The IRS, and all those investigations. Republicans have no plans for an immigration vote in 2013" Martinez said.
