A Southside City Councilman is hoping the San Antonio Police Department can regain the trust of the community following the arrest of an officer accused of raping a woman in his patrol car.
District Four's Rey Saldana told 550 KTSA News he has spoken with Chief William McManus in the aftermath of the arrest of Officer Jackie Neal.
"Our Chief of Police is more than frustrated--and irate about what this does to our police department, who for a long time has really been building a reputation with our community" Saldana said, adding "I'm sure that the public will see very soon that this individual is not going to get away with his actions."
Outside of this incident, Saldana said he has been pleased with the department overall.
"The Chief of Police has been doing a really good job of treating everybody the same. Meaning that if you step out of line, and you are an officer of the law--and you consider yourself above the law--you will pay the consequences of your actions" Saldana said.
